Andrew Cartwright

Investment Manager
Birmingham

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

Whilst studying Economics at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, student loans proved very useful. Those early investments would later fund a trip to UC Berkeley, California. The most important thing I learned was investing and financial planning could help people realise their goals.

This inevitably led me to a career in wealth management. I joined Quilter Cheviot in 2021 having previously worked at Brewin Dolphin, as an investment manager, and Barclays Wealth, where I led the national UK Equities Committee. I am a Chartered Wealth Manager and hold an MBA from Warwick Business School.

What would you like to achieve for clients?

I help clients on their journey towards achieving their financial goals. I enjoy getting to know clients, finding out what is important to them and helping them understand, often complex, investment matters in a clear and concise manner. I like connecting people and work closely with other professions to help clients with their wider requirements.

Whilst investing in financial markets can be very rewarding, especially over the long-term, they can be volatile. I help clients understand financial markets, guide them through the challenging times and away from making expensive mistakes.

What are you passionate about in life?

Outside of helping clients and in between shifts at Dad’s Taxi’s, I like to get active in the great outdoors. This includes obstacle course races, mountain biking, road cycling and skiing. I also enjoy travel with Asia being a regular, and favourite, destination.

I also sit on the Executive Committee of a local Scout group and support them in achieving their goals and the great activities they run for young people of all ages.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
