What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
I began my career with an internship at Quilter Cheviot in 2018. It didn’t take long for me to realise that investment management is what I wanted to do and soon signed up for my first professional exam. From there, I went on to become an Investment Administrator on Quilter Cheviot’s Sustainable Investment Team, completing the Chartered Wealth Management qualification and qualifying as an Investment Manager in 2022. Since then, I have built a book of private clients and been made Fund Manager of the Sustainable Opportunities Funds (previously known as the Climate Assets Funds) and the Libero Balanced fund while continuing to assist with the management of the Quilter Investors Ethical Equity Fund. To strengthen my knowledge in responsible investing, in 2022 I gained the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.
How do you work with / look after clients?
Working with clients and forging relationships that can span generations is one of the most enjoyable parts of the job. My main goal is to ensure clients have a full understanding of the service we provide, from setting up their account to reviewing their portfolio as well as throughout the relationship, which often means tailoring each conversation to each client’s financial circumstances. It is very important to have regular reviews and keep apprised of clients’ goals and what their investment portfolios are intended for. Ensuring investment portfolios are suitable to our clients’ financial needs and the outcomes are in line with our clients’ expectations is very important to me.
What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I try to find an excuse to cook whenever I can and enjoy eating at new restaurants. I enjoy watching and playing sport, preferably watching Rugby and playing golf. I also enjoy escaping the city on the weekends and going back to my family home in Kent to catch up with friends or going to Norfolk with my wife’s family.
