Peter Gorogh

Head of Proposition
London

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

The prospect of helping clients to achieve their investment and financial goals, has always drawn me towards wealth management. My career spans over 20 years, starting with various roles at Standard & Poor’s in Australia and the UK including investment consulting, fund research distribution, and fund research proposition enhancement. Thereafter, at SEI Investments in London I played an integral role in the successful onboarding of large UK wealth management firms to the SEI Wealth Platform. More recently at HSBC UK Private Bank, I held a key leadership role overseeing proposition development, proposition management / governance and the investment department’s business management function. In the last 2 years in working with Solve Partners, I have also gained exposure to the world of consulting through various engagements with Rathbones and JM Finn. These engagements involved overseeing substantial CIO and product governance related operating model changes.

How do you approach your role on a daily basis?

I am an agile problem-solver, who thrives in a fast paced, constantly evolving organization. Relationship management and stakeholder engagement are key to enabling the successful delivery of improvements / transformation within a firm. I have always, therefore, taken a keen interest in developing relationships with stakeholders in organisations. My record of accomplishment in leading major change within wealth management firms includes:

  • Significant proposition development and rollout alongside systems implementations (SEI Wealth Platform, Avaloq, Aladdin), resulting in substantial revenue and AUM uplift.
  • Regulatory framework implementations including MiFID II and Consumer Duty.
  • Overhaul of operating models where multiple business units / organisations are being merged.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I am a budding writer as well as a running enthusiast. Having tried my hand at writing a fictional novel some years ago, I have also since taken to half marathons. It is often said that public speaking is peoples’ worst nightmare. Not one to shy away from a challenge, I have taken part in my fair share of public speaking clubs and events over the years. I also have a passion for history, architecture and culture, which bodes well with my keen interest in travelling and exploring the world!

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
