Helping young people maximise their potential

The Next Gen Mentoring Programme in partnership with Rugby Centurions aimed to help young people maximise their potential.

The Rugby Centurions Foundation comprising of rugby players who have represented their country 100 times or more, launched the Next Generation Mentorship in partnership with Quilter Cheviot at the City College of Glasgow in September 2022.

The four-month Next Generation Mentorship Programme helped develop and nurture students’ potential while also improving their financial well-being and resilience to help them transition from education to work.

The programme was supported by Centurions, Sean Lamont and Donna Kennedy who earned 105 and 115 caps for Scotland.

The programme has helped me prepare for the next chapter. I am already thinking about how I apply the financial workshop learnings to make smarter, better decisions for the future.

Financial challenges

The mentorship also helped students understand and manage the financial burdens of higher education through Quilter Cheviot’s financial resilience workshop.

The City of Glasgow College is the largest college and technical institution in Scotland; an institution that welcomes students of all ages from every background and culture, nurturing talent and helping them on the road to success. The participating students identified that the programme was a unique experience that covered areas that they had not touched upon in college. The sessions offered a space for students to evaluate gaps in their knowledge and skills in a much broader sense than the academic requirements of their course and to think about their next steps.
