Bristol
What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
I have always had a keen interest in why people make the decisions they make about their money so was naturally drawn towards financial services and wealth management. I began my career at Royal and SunAlliance as a Junior Technical Analyst and subsequently worked for several major life assurers, pension providers and investment companies, most recently spending nearly 15 years as Technical Manager at Lloyd's / Scottish Widows. During this time, I completed the Chartered Insurance Institute's level 4 Financial Services qualification as well as the Association of Taxation Technicians' tax exams.
My role as Technical Manager at Quilter Cheviot allows me to use the skills and knowledge I have gained throughout my career to train and upskill the company's internal staff as well as providing technical support to financial advisers and wealth managers, helping them to produce the best possible outcomes for their clients.
How do you work with / look after clients?
I constantly monitor changes to legislation, tax rules and regulation and create detailed technical content for Quilter Cheviot and our customers. This insight helps financial advisers and investment managers cut through the complexity and highlight opportunities for their clients.
What are your interests outside of work?
I have two daughters, the youngest of which is primary school age, who take up most of my time outside of work. My main interests is running and I regularly compete in 5k, 10k and half marathon events. With what little spare time I have I study towards a Mathematics and Economics degree with the London School of Economics.
