Daniel Garrard
Business Development Manager
London
What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
My career in financial services has followed a distinctive and varied path. I began in the 1990s as a 19-year-old money broker, trading European interest rates before the introduction of the Euro. This early experience in fast-paced markets sparked a lasting interest in global finance. I went on to work in private client stockbroking, asset management, and financial advice, each role deepening my understanding of investment strategy and client needs. A sabbatical running a horticultural business in France offered a valuable change of perspective before I returned to the industry, motivated by the opportunity to support clients and their advisers more meaningfully.
How do you look after clients?
As Business Development Manager, each day begins with a simple question, 'What can I add today?'. At Quilter Cheviot, I draw on a broad range of experience to support professional connections and their clients. I understand the challenges advisers face, including regulatory pressures, client expectations and business demands. My focus is on delivering clarity, consistency and value. I believe trust is the foundation of successful partnerships and work to build it through thoughtful, responsive and practical support.
What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, golf, fishing and spending time in nature. These interests provide a welcome balance to professional life.
