Chris Dowling
Investment Manager
Bristol
What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
My journey into wealth management was born of years judging & balancing risk while in the Army. On leaving to begin a family, I saw the value of combining this with the opportunity to help clients navigate a complex financial landscape. My experience since then, combined with qualifications including the CISI Masters in Wealth Management, has been challenging & rewarding in equal measure.
My role is varied & rarely dull. Most of all I enjoy getting to know my clients and their families. They manage many competing demands on their time while they build businesses, support children (& often parents), create professional legacies and aim to make a positive impact. They rely on me to help them achieve financial wellbeing, planning not just for their next chapter, but for the coming decades.
How do you approach your role on a daily basis?
As an Investment Manager in our Bristol office, I act as a trusted adviser to business owners and clients looking to grow & protect family wealth. Collaborating with financial planners, lawyers and tax specialists, we design & implement personalised strategies including profit extraction, business exit, asset preservation and philanthropy.
This means my days involve a varied mix of technical problem solving, market analysis and time spent in the company of clients, business owners & a range of professional specialists.
What are your interests outside of work?
My young family keep me busy but I regularly play tennis and make time to enjoy fell running. I have a keen interest in the outdoors, economics and music.
