Executive Director & Deputy Head of Birmingham Office
Birmingham

What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

My journey in wealth management began back in 1984 when I embarked on my career at Albert E Sharp. After being admitted to the Stock Exchange in 1986, I joined Quilter Cheviot in 1999 as an Executive Director. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving as the Head of the Birmingham Office, where I had the opportunity to engage with clients in the comfort of their own homes, discussing markets and portfolios with them. Recently, I have transitioned into the role of Deputy Head, providing support to my colleague who has taken on the leadership responsibilities. Alongside my practical experience, I have acquired formal qualifications including a degree in Science and Economics from Leicester, as well as being a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (FCSI).

How do you look after clients?

As the Deputy Head of the Birmingham Office, I lead a team of highly skilled and experienced Investment Managers. While overseeing the office is an important aspect of my role, my primary focus is on safeguarding and growing clients' wealth. My specialisation lies in managing bespoke investment portfolios for private clients, with expertise in various areas including ISAs, Offshore Bonds, Trusts, Charities, and Pension Funds. Each portfolio is meticulously tailored to align with the client's specific objectives, time horizons, and any ethical considerations they may have. Collaboration with professionals such as Independent Financial Advisers, Accountants, and Solicitors is often essential to ensure a comprehensive approach. Regular communication and contact with clients form an integral part of our personalised service. Over the years, I have built enduring relationships with clients, with some spanning multiple generations. These relationships, built on trust, enable clients to fulfill their investment goals and attain long-term financial peace of mind for themselves and their families.

What are your interests outside of work?

Beyond my professional interests in wealth management, I am passionate about tennis, a sport that keeps me active and engaged. It's a great way to balance the demands of a challenging career. I also enjoy skiing with family and friends and taking our dog for daily walks.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
