What attracted you to a career in wealth management?

I like talking to people, numbers and taking an interest in the world. Investment Management is perfect for me.  As a teenager I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career but after finding myself back at home after University in an entry level job in a bank I realised that wealth management was for me as I enjoyed investments, client relationships and current affairs. Thus, I applied to become the assistant to an Investment Manager in Yorkshire. I had to study in my evenings and weekends to complete the postgraduate diploma in Investment Management. It was well worth it as I found myself most comfortable talking to clients and constructing bespoke investment plans for their circumstances.

How do you look after Clients?

My job is to make a very complicated area as simple and as understandable as possible for my clients. The more they understand the plan and how it can be achieved, the more comfortable they will be to stick to it. Working alongside clients to help them understand the markets and patience required is a key job of mine. My proudest moment is when my clients get to do what they want with their life and not worry about money. Building plans with clients and seeing them delivered is hugely rewarding. My main focus is the big picture. How is value made, grown and retained? It starts with the world situation and industry leading management. I find people want to talk and be heard and I always make time for my clients.

What are you interests outside of work?

In my spare time I love to sing and act onstage with my local community. We come together to build a piece of theatre as a team and it’s a real community effort.

The value of your investments and the income from them can fall and you may not recover what you invested.
