What attracted you to a career in wealth management?
My career in wealth management began in earnest when I joined Skandia Life (as it was back then) in 1992. During my career I progressed through various roles until I served as a Life and Investments Technical Specialist. This role involved providing technical support to financial advisers and customers, resolving tax and financial planning issues, and ensuring compliance with legislation and regulation. My quest for knowledge and expertise led me to achieve Chartered Financial Planner status and Fellowship of the Personal Finance Society as well as full STEP membership. With over 30 years in the financial services sector, I've cultivated a deep understanding of trusts, taxation, and financial planning, drawing me into the wealth management field. More recently I have worked with clients with NHS Pensions, an area that requires specialist advice and knowledge.
How do you approach your role on a daily basis?
As a Chartered Financial Planner at Quilter Cheviot for the past 6 years, my client-facing role is all about providing the best financial advice. I tailor solutions to meet each client's unique financial goals. This involves close collaboration, in-depth financial planning, and regular communication to ensure their investments align with their aspirations. I find immense satisfaction in helping clients achieve their financial objectives and ensuring their financial well-being.
What are your interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I have a passion for running. It's a great way to stay active and maintain a healthy work-life balance. My dedication to professional development is evident in my memberships in the CII and STEP, showcasing my commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
