Quilter Cheviot Investment Management, part of Quilter plc, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Manchester office.
Quilter Cheviot’s Manchester office opened on 13th July 1993. David Rothburn, an investment manager within the initial team, was appointed as Head of the office 10 years later and remains at the helm today.
The office has benefited from being based in the centre of Manchester, one of the largest UK cities, which has experienced significant economic growth over the past 25 years.
Manchester staff marked the occasion with an event for private clients and members of the professional community at the King Street Townhouse Hotel on the 7th June, where guests enjoyed drinks and canapes whilst listening to a brief talk from the famous Manchester-based writer and broadcaster Jonathan Schofield.
Head of Office, David Rothburn, said: “I am incredibly proud to have been in charge of our Manchester office over the past 15 years. Having been at Quilter Cheviot for 25 years, and experienced so much change, I feel an integral part of the evolution of the company.”
Quilter Cheviot’s Manchester office opened during a time when people were nervous about investing their wealth, but David believed the office was launched at the ideal time.
”The opening of our office was well-timed, the UK economy was just emerging from recession, and heading into a long run of positive growth that lasted until the dot-com crash in March 2000,” he said.
The office has experienced great success since its opening, with the client base growing significantly and the number of permanent staff more than doubling to stand at 15 today.
Quilter Cheviot provides discretionary managed investment portfolios for private clients, professional intermediaries, charities, trusts and pension funds.
With 10 offices across the UK, offshore presences in Dublin and Jersey, and a representative office in Dubai, Quilter Cheviot is one of the largest discretionary managers in the UK with over £22.8 billion in funds under management (as at 30 March 2018).
