Birmingham Office

Mark Stone

Investment Manager

I am an Executive Director at Quilter Cheviot and specialise in managing investment portfolios for charities and private clients at Quilter Cheviot’s Birmingham office. I like to make a real difference to the people I work with.

Working closely with clients, charity trustees and advisers, I ascertain their level of risk and investment requirements – be it for generating income, creating capital growth, preserving wealth or a combination of these objectives.

Seeing clients on a regular basis is vital to developing long term relationships and providing an outstanding personal service.

As Head of the Charities Team in Birmingham, I manage a number of local charity accounts and am passionate about helping trustees to better understand their responsibilities, keep up-to-date with all the changes in the sector and position themselves for the future. We organise regular events and receive some excellent feedback.

Mark graduated from Warwick University with a degree in Economics and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments.

Mark started his career in the insurance industry, passing the professional insurance qualifications and becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.  He soon moved to the Investment Department and passed the Investment Management Certificate. Mark was awarded the Securities & Investment Institute Diploma shortly after joining Quilter Cheviot, achieving the highest mark in the country in his final examination.

Mark has over 30 years’ experience managing investments and has been at Quilter Cheviot for nearly 10 years. He manages investment portfolios for a variety of clients ranging from private clients to pension funds and charities. Mark is a member of the Charities Team and is one of the charity specialists in the Birmingham office.

Before joining Quilter Cheviot, Mark worked at Police Mutual, a large exclusive membership friendly society based in the Midlands. There he was responsible for building up their in-house investment expertise and managing UK equity portfolios, before becoming Head of Investments in 2001.

Mark has an extensive knowledge of investment funds and has a regular dialogue with senior fund managers in the industry.

Outside of work, Mark has always played an active role in the local community.  He played cricket for a number of years, setting up the junior section at his local club and was involved in coaching and managing a number of the age groups.  Mark is a keen horse-racing fan, being an annual member at Cheltenham, and a regular attendee at other local tracks.  He likes to keep fit at his local gym and enjoys lots of countryside walks with his Labrador, Bea.
