I am responsible for coverage of Private Equity strategies as well as US, Japan, Asian and Emerging Markets Equity funds. Key responsibilities include identifying new investment opportunities, ongoing due diligence on incumbent’s investments and a complete understanding of individual portfolio risk-return characteristics and inter-manager correlations.
Ernst completed educational career in South Africa, and has a B.Sc. in Mathematics of Finance and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Financial Engineering from the University of Pretoria. He is also a CFA charter holder.
Ernst joined the Quilter Cheviot Collectives Research team in 2015 as part of the integration of Quilter Cheviot (QC) into Old Mutual Wealth, after having spent 8 years with multi-asset team at Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI). Ernst is a keen sports enthusiast, and still plays rugby and cricket, and likes to squeeze in a round of golf if time allows. His favourite activity however is spending time with his children; if he is not running around somewhere, he likes to relax with a book – preferably next to the beach in South Africa, or Spain. His moto in life is that “life is not about what we deserve or what we are owed, but about the consequences of our decisions.”
