Quilter Cheviot sponsor Terracotta warriors exhibition

Quilter Cheviot Investment Management is proud to announce its sponsorship of the ‘China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors’ exhibition, which opens on Friday 9 February 2018 at the World Museum in Liverpool.

This historical exhibition will be just the third time the Terracotta Warriors have come to the UK in their history and will be one of the biggest exhibitions to have ever come to Liverpool with an expected 450,000 visitors between now and October. Visitors to the eight and a half-month exhibition will see some of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries and can expect to be taken on a magical journey through China’s history and be immersed in the world of the Terracotta Warriors.

Head of Quilter Cheviot Liverpool, Simon Walker, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Terracotta Warriors exhibition for what will no doubt be one of the most important exhibitions ever to be held in  Liverpool. We are very proud to be able to help bring to Europe this rare insight into China’s past and help celebrate 10 years since Liverpool’s status as European Capital of Culture.”

Proud home to the oldest Chinese community in Europe, China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors exhibition is being welcomed just in time for the Year of the Dog, and during a year of celebrations marking 10 years since Liverpool’s status as European Capital of Culture in 2008.

Spanning almost 1,000 years, this blockbuster exhibition tells the story of the formative years of the Chinese nation, from the pre-unification Qin Kings, to the rise of the Qin State and unification of China by the First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang in 221 BC, followed by the legacy of his achievements in the succeeding Han Dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD). Having travelled 5,000 miles to be in the city, ten life-size figures – including a terracotta cavalry horse – will be on display as part of a collection of more than 180 spectacular artefacts from Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s vast burial complex, covering an area of 56 square kilometres in Shaanxi Province, North West China. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to come face to face with Warriors from the site and witness a vast range of other exquisite objects from the Qin and Han dynasties; some of which have never been displayed in the UK before.

With 10 offices across the UK, offshore presences in Dublin and Jersey, and a representative office in Dubai, Quilter Cheviot is one of the largest discretionary managers in the UK with over £23 billion in funds under management (as at 30 September 2017).
