What attracted you to a career in wealth management
When I was growing up, I developed a strong interest in economics and global politics and naturally gravitated towards a career in investment after leaving university. My degree was in history from Leeds University, but I was able to build on this by completing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification in 2004. Before joining Quilter Cheviot in 2011, I was an analyst and fixed income fund manager at Barings and BNY Mellon and have been working in bond markets for roughly twenty years.
What would you like to achieve for clients?
Bonds form an increasingly important part of client portfolios especially now that interest rates have returned to more normal levels. I believe the asset class offers an attractive combination of risk and return and my aim is to identify the best opportunities for meeting client needs. Fixed Income can also be a complicated area to the unfamiliar investor, and I try to help colleagues and clients make sense of what is happening and what the future may hold.
What are you passionate about in life?
I am passionate about many things outside of work including coaching youth football at my local club where I am also a committee member. Sport can be immensely rewarding for children, and I really enjoy trying to help them to improve and to work as a team, no matter what the level. I also enjoy running in my spare time as well as travel and reading widely.
