The earliest incarnation of Quilter Cheviot, William Morris and Sons is formed. It is a partnership of 150 stockbrokers that created a club at Jonathan’s Coffee House
The London Stock Exchange is born in a building in Sweetings Alley, with a dealing room on the ground floor and a coffee house above
Quilter Balfour & Co is formed
Quilter remains at the forefront of the industry and after merging with many smaller partnerships, becomes Quilter Goodison & Co
The ‘Big Bang’ abolishes out-of-date financial practices, opening the floodgates to international capital. Sir Nicholas Goodison is made senior partner and Chairman of The London Stock Exchange
Quilter Goodison & Co is acquired by Commercial Union

Old Mutual Wealth acquires Quilter Cheviot Investment Management
